Here at The Howard School, we strive to prepare our students for whatever future they wish to pursue, we are committed to providing a wide and varied programme of events and we are keen to work with employers, universities, colleges and training providers who can volunteer their time and pass on the benefit of their skills, experience and expertise.

Mock Interview Days

Year 13 | 29th September 2023 | 8.30am - 1:00pm
Year 11 | 19th January 2024 | 8.30am - 1:00pm

Mock interviews have such a practical impact on student's futures - they learn how to dress, speak, and answer classic interview questions - helping them to get ready for what comes after school.

Careers Fayre

7th February 2024 | 9am - 4pm

The purpose of the event is for students & parents to talk to different employers, universities, colleges and independent training providers to gain an understanding of what their jobs/courses entail or the different roles available and the skills that are needed to be successful in today's economy.

Work Experience Weeks

Year 10 | 10th-14th June 2024
Year 12 | 15th-19th July 2024

Spending some time with an employer, doing simple tasks, work shadowing or watching an experienced employer at work can be hugely beneficial for our students.

The reasons for doing work experience include

  • Developing transferable skills such as communication and teamwork
  • Understanding how an organisation works
  • Building confidence
  • Enhanced opportunities for part-time and casual employment
  • Provides valuable content in a CV or a UCAS statement
