Thank you for your interest in The Howard School at what I think is a very exciting time to be part of the school’s community. As part of The Howard Academy Trust, we are committed to a shared moral purpose; to make a positive difference to the lives of the young people in our community.
The Howard School is a highly inclusive school community where every individual matters. High levels of discipline ensure everyone is expected to work hard and make a positive contribution to the learning environment. The school has been recognised as a Rights Respecting School at Gold Level by UNICEF, the only secondary school in Kent or Medway to receive such an award.
"Pupils enjoy school and feel valued. The school is inclusive with a real sense of community. Relationships between pupils, and between pupils and staff, are a real strength."

MOVEMBER WEEK 3 UPDATE Our incredible staff Movember team is now three weeks in, and the moustaches are getting seriously impressive! They're raising awareness and funds for Prostate Cancer UK and Pancreatic Cancer UK, while also highlighting the importance of men's health and wellbeing. In week's school newsletter, you'll get to read the brilliant poem on Page 1 written by Will Edkins (Year 11). His piece on men's mental health links perfectly with Movember's message about speaking up, supporting one another, and breaking the stigma. Amazing work, Will! This year's Movember team includes: Mr Webb, Mr Murphy, Mr Cooper, Mr Halsey, Mr Knights, Mr Edwards, Mr Bond, Mr Flack, Mr Clarke, Mr Julian, Mr Collins, Mr Dunn, Mr Hillier, Mr Coveney, Mr Green and Mr Loftus plus, in a truly moving addition, Mr Mark Humphrys' son, who is growing his own tash in memory of his dad. Want to see how the tashes are coming along? Swipe below! If you'd like to support the team and help raise money for two incredible charities, you can donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/howard-staff-4?newPage=true&fbclid=IwY2xjawONmWVleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETA2ZkhHMXVYVHlWeVdHSkRZc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHrgFPl_to9Mc5tzfXu6OrO8ji2xuCGifZYBGTJrEIYbueGLZVSgr20qlzLo7_aem_D9VcM6UGGA9H1Df_JbThiA Every pound makes a difference. Let's keep cheering them on as they head into the final stretch!
Shake it till you make it! Today in 10B1, our students took on an awesome earthquake-proof building challenge! Working in teams, they used real-world engineering techniques and classroom "building materials" to create structures strong enough to survive our very scientific earthquake simulator... (yes, that really was a washing basket! ) After lots of creativity, teamwork and a few dramatic collapses, one structure stood strong the longest. A huge well done to our winning team JH, DW, TK and JS! Their design survived the shakes like absolute champs! Amazing effort from everyone involved future engineers in the making!
Shoutout to 8H2! We just had to give a huge well-done to our amazing 8H2 boys this half term! They've been smashing their Health-Related Fitness and Table Tennis lessons Mr Cooper has been super impressed with the class' effort, engagement and positive attitude especially when getting stuck into different training methods and learning how to improve their fitness. Building on their Year 7 fitness testing knowledge, they've taken things to the next level in Year 8, exploring how to train smarter and boost a range of fitness components. Keep it up, 8H2 we're proud of you!
Shoutout to all our amazing extra-curricular club attendees! A special mention goes to our Table Tennis Club, which had 30+ students join in this week! Our students have been absolutely smashing it in lessons too some classes have already started their Table Tennis units this year, and the enthusiasm is definitely showing in the club sessions. Keep it up, everyone we're super proud of you!
