Mr S Edwards
Associate Vice Principal
I am Mr Edwards and I am the Associate Vice Principal at The Howard School with responsibility for The Sixth Form, Careers and Examination. I have been teaching for 23 years and in that time have gained experience of teaching in a range of mixed and all boy’s secondary schools in both Kent and London. In August 2025 I was successfully awared NPQH after completing an 18 month qualification with LLSE.
I joined The Howard School in September 2016 as Head of Sixth Form and my main subject is Geography, which I studied at Manchester Metropolitan University, before completing a Secondary PGCE qualification at Bristol University. In my current role, my responsibility is to ensure that students studying at post 16 receive the very best education, through high quality teaching, alongside a bespoke personal development programme that equips them for the future, whether that be University, Apprenticeships or Employment. I work closely with the schools careers lead to ensure that students receive the very best advice by establishing strong links with employers and Universities, both locally and nationally.
Alongside the above responsibilities, I work closely with the exams officer and SEND coodinator to ensure the smooth operation of all internal and external exams, supporting students with additional needs to access and succeed in all aspects of the examination process.
I am dedicated to ensuring that all students, regardless of background, thrive in our inclusive post-16 curriculum and community. Through the unwavering support of our teaching and pastoral teams, they will gain the necessary qualifications and skills to become confident, valuable members of society.
