The Howard School has proudly maintained its high academic standards, with students delivering consistently excellent academic and vocational results again this year. The school saw an increase in the overall progress 8 value added measure, an increase in the number of students achieving grade 9 to 5 for combined GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics and an increase in the overall GCSE grade average when compared to the last set of external formal GCSE examinations which was 2019.
The increase in results from 2019 is even more impressive when one takes into account that these students had an interrupted education for two years of their school lives and had to catch up both academically and more holistically during their last year of secondary school. They have put in so much effort and hard work including many attending 7.30 am, after school and Saturday morning intervention/booster classes. It is so pleasing to see this has all paid off.
Equally this couldn’t have been done without the fantastic support our parents/carers have offered and we wholeheartedly thank them for their patience and perseverance.
Mr Johal, Head of School, said: “We are delighted that the hard work of students and their teachers has paid off and that the school is able to celebrate their success, and we are excited to see many will continue their education with us into 6th form. We would also like to congratulate our new Year 11 cohort on receiving their excellent GCSE results for English Literature which they took at the end of year 10 giving them a solid platform to move successfully into Year 11.”
