PE

The purpose of the PE curriculum at The Howard School is:

  • to provide our students with opportunities to develop a range of practical skills
  • to allow our students to feel confident enough to lead others in a variety of different practical settings, showing an understanding of all aspects of a sport session
  • to enable our students to experience both competitive and non-competitive sporting situations and appreciate the effects of both
  • to allow our students to communicate effectively with others and improve their teamwork skills
  • to help our students to understand the different body systems and what is really meant by the term ‘FIT’
  • too develop our students’ appreciation of how sport can have a positive effect on the mental health and well-being of an individual
  • to encourage our students to self and peer analyse/set appropriate targets
  • to help our students learn and abide by the rules and regulations of a range of sports
